The Foundation for Educational Opportunities, Inc. (FEO) mission is to foster a heightened interest in academics and social issues, promote higher education and instill a desire to succeed in and contribute to the Greater Hartford community. FEO is committed to ensuring that students have the opportunity to succeed in higher education by ensuring graduation from high school prepared to succeed in college and in a career; and to increase post-secondary completion rates through innovative mentoring programs and career coaching.

Currently, the Foundation for Educational Opportunities leverages two signature programs that work in concert toward accomplishing our mission: the ASCEND Youth Enrichment Program and the Hartford Girls Rock! recognition event. Hartford Girls Rock! is an annual opportunity to celebrate, inspire, empower and honor young ladies of the Greater Hartford community for their exemplary leadership, academic achievement and civic engagement.

Founded in 1994, FEO is a 501c3 nonprofit organization positively impacting Greater Hartford by providing scholarships to deserving, college-bound students and implementing community based, self-improvement learning opportunities in the areas of health, education, family dynamics, and economics. Greater Hartford is strengthened by programs, such as the following, which result in elevating dialogue regarding issues impacting underserved members of the community.

This program was designed as a community forum to explore and assist in banishing the stigma often associated with a diagnosis of depression, post traumatic stress disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and other mental illnesses. The forum was facilitated by a local mental health expert and averaged attendance numbering over 100. Information booths and interactive wellness activities were included in every forum.
